What Our Client Says

  • In 2013 our company Smiths Farm Inc. set out to upgrade our aging broccoli cooling facility. Our objective was to improve our food safety, increase capacity, streamline operations, and lower our per unit power consumption.

Northeast Distributors, Inc. (NED) was highly recommended by several contractors and by other NED customers in the produce and seafood industries. Ken and Eric Peterson and their staff from NED became involved in the early planning and design stages of our multi-million dollar renovation project.  Their task was to convert our 60,000 sq.ft. facility from an antiquated Freon system to a modern, efficient, computer controlled anhydrous ammonia cooled facility and have it operational by June 15, 2014. They surpassed our expectations!

Northeast Distributors, Inc. brought a great deal of knowledge and experience to the table that in the end saved us time and money. Their knowledge was indispensable when designing a refrigeration system that would cool the facility and our produce given the different variations of temperature, humidity and tons of produce coming from the field at any given hour of the day.

During the construction phase NED displayed the experience they had gain on previous projects. Their experience helped layout a plan of work that was finely tuned and kept the project on schedule and on budget.

Our renovation project, as with most, had a few unexpected surprises and challenges during the construction phase. During those times NED was flexible and worked with the other contractors throughout to resolve any issues.

Our new refrigeration system startup was on schedule and it was flawless. During our first season operations we were able keep our larger facility cooler using less energy.

NED surpassed all of our expectations during the project. They trained our people, setup all safety and reporting protocols and continues to follow up on any questions we may have concerning the system. They are a class act.

If you are considering ammonia refrigeration I seriously recommend Northeast Distributors, Inc. (NED).

  • My relationship with Northeast Distributors began in 1995, here at Loring Arena.  One day Eric Peterson stopped into he rink to introduce himself.

The rink opened in 1963 and is known for the best ice around.

I purchased all of the necessary compressor parts for the rink, from Northeast Distributors.  The parts department for Northeast Distributors provides superior service.  Specifically Phil Mohan is incredibly knowledgeable.  When I place an order, there is never a delay.  I always receive my order within one day of speaking to the parts department.  Due to the Arena being 53 years old, I have had many challenges with maintenance.  Having the Evaporator Condenser mounted on the roof and completely re-plumbed, as well as having the drive unit installed with VFD.  Eric Peterson installing a bulls eye column in my chiller.  This gives me the ability to monitor Ammonia levels of the chiller, this new column was a huge savings in my electric bill, due to the chiller now being 100 percent efficient.

Next, were all the new valves being installed.  The current valves were all over 45 years old.  Some of the new valves required cutting in because they were no longer manufactured.

My next refrigeration project was to replace a malfunctioning control panel.  This was done by NED.  Richard Bracchi was the mastermind behind specifically creating this panel for the rink’s needs, from design to energy management controls for the refrigeration system.  Automatic controls were added to the manual controls to provide us with the operation in case of sensor failure.  By having this new control panel, we can set our head pressures, set points, and alarming system for pressures and temperatures.  The alarm system has been great in notifying us when anything is not working properly.

Knowing this service and type of work provided by NED for rink and expertise of the team, from their professionalism in parts, services provided, manufacturing and 24 hour assistance, I have never felt more confident or satisfied with NED.

  • To whom it may concern:

Florida Freezer first worked with Northeast Distributors, Inc. (“NED”) as its ammonia refrigeration and engineering and construction contractor in 2009.  That first project was conducted safely, efficiently, and on budget of approximately $280,000.  Since then we have retained the NED team of nine (9) other projects totaling about $955,000, including the latest capital project of $325,000 that was completed last week.

I have found everyone at NED to be professional, safety conscious, and above all pleasurable to work with for the last six years.  I count the Peterson family as valued and trusted business associates and as my friends.  I look forward to working with them on our next refrigeration project.

  • Northeast Distributors has earned our trust, respect, and business since we began using them as an ammonia refrigeration contractor since 2010.  As a producer of frozen seafood, our business is dependent upon the smooth and efficient operation of our ammonia system.  NED has been a great partner in keeping our refrigeration system running, and helping us improve and update it wherever possible.  Ken Peterson and his team have handled projects here ranging from compressor rebuilds, to install new evaporative condensers, from design to installation.  No job or project is too big or too small.  Ken is an expert who views each project as if he was doing it for his own plant, and offers advice based on that premise, even if his recommendation was scale down the scope of the work.  NED has a top-notch and responsive crew, and the projects they did here were all completed on-time, safely, and on-budget.  Ken is a man of his word, and NED stands firmly behind their work.  We recommend them without qualification.

  • Over the past several years, NED has completed many contracts for Maola Milk & Ice Cream Co. Their quotes have been competitive and their work flawless…on-time and within budget. An added value has been…suggestions and recommendations to improve the performance or cost-effiency of our refrigeration system. On several occasions they have gone well beyond the call of duty to help us through an urgent situation. Of all the vendors who serve us, there are none that we would recommend more highly than Northeast Distributors.
